My writing includes 57 flavours of trauma, class, disability, being northern, a parent, a music nerd and my unfortunate habit of nearly dying. It’s also hopeful, life affirming and has a lot of obscure music references.

So… Who am I?

As a writer…

Following a self-published experiment available on Amazon my first poetry chapbook proper was published by Written Off in 2024 and is called Uncommon Labels. 

I’ve written about music for Penny Black since 2009 and have contributed pieces for Now Then exploring the experiences of nearly dying (more than once) and highlighting the often hidden lives of young carers. I have been longlisted by Butchers Dog once and shortlisted for the New Northern Poet programme twice.

…and as a preforming poet

Since 2023 I performed in lots of different places including open mics for events including book launches for the first Kaleidoscopic Minds anthology and an event for Compassionate Sheffield. I’ve been the invited guest poet at Poems & Pints in Macclesfield and hosted the Written Off Pride open mic event. 

I also appeared at Manchester Poetry in the Park and crossed the Atlantic to read at the New York Poetry Festival. I made my Off The Shelf debut alongside fellow Written off poet Helen Rice and was invited to read at the Winters Edge poetry event book launch of Helen Mort and Susie Wilson.

My MA

In 2025 I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a MA with distinction in Creative Writing.  As well as challenging my approaches to writing, helping me figure out the rules I want to make as well as break, I also got to hear and read and hear from a lot of very talented writers.
